Leo Sørensen's LSM Pumper has secured an order for 12 additional hose pumps from Lithuanian engineering company Maksim Lisovskij's ViGo Engineering, highlighting growing international demand for specialist pumping technology in the rapidly expanding biogas sector.
The latest contract comprises 10 LSM-150 pumps and two LSM-65 units, which will be installed at a new biogas plant in Lithuania scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. The deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies that began in 2024.
ViGo Engineering already operates nine LSM-150 pumps at biogas facilities, each capable of handling around 120m³ of material per hour.
The company has also previously purchased smaller LSM units, meaning the latest order will take its total installed base of LSM pumps to more than 20.
According to ViGo Engineering, operational reliability has been a key factor behind the continued investment.
The company said it had experienced fewer motor stoppages and reduced clogging issues compared with alternative hose pump technologies.
Access to spare parts and rapid technical support have also proved important, particularly in an industry where equipment downtime can significantly disrupt production.
“After working with the pumps in practice, we have experienced stable operations, and therefore it was natural for us to continue with LSM on the new projects,” said Maksim Lisovskij, project manager at ViGo Engineering.
Biogas plants present demanding operating conditions, with pumps required to handle high-viscosity materials containing fibres and solid particles, including slurry, maize, yeast and other organic feedstocks. Reliable pumping systems are regarded as critical for maintaining plant availability and minimising maintenance requirements.
Leo Sørensen, chief executive of LSM Pumper, said the Lithuanian order reflects a wider international trend as biogas capacity expands across multiple markets. The company has reported growing interest from customers in countries including Lithuania, Germany, Poland and the United States, with operators increasingly focusing on equipment reliability, maintenance requirements and long-term operating performance.
For LSM Pumper, the latest order represents another step in its expansion within the global biogas market and demonstrates the growing importance of specialist biomass-handling technologies as renewable gas production continues to scale up.
