Allweiler AE-RG hopper pump series sets new standard for reliable dry sludge and solids handling

CIRCOR International, Inc. has unveiled its ALLWEILER AE RG Hopper Pump Series, engineered to deliver dependable, high performance pumping for some of industry’s most challenging materials.
Designed for wastewater treatment, dry sludge handling, biogas and other demanding processing environments, the series combines robust construction with innovative screw and hopper technology to ensure smooth, continuous operation even with highly viscous, abrasive or solids laden media.
The AE RG Series incorporates an optimised hopper that enables efficient transfer of materials containing up to 45% dry solids.
According to the release, the pumps “ensure a continuous pumping of non free flowing, dewatered, or fibrous products”, supporting reliable handling of sticky starches, fibrous matter and heavily dewatered municipal sludge. Progressing cavity pump technology further enhances stability and performance across difficult applications.
Each unit features two intermeshing augers, configurable as mixing screws, conveying screws or a combination of both.
This flexibility prevents bridge formation and clogging at the inlet hopper, eliminating the need for separate bridge breaking equipment. The mixing screw option also enables the addition of conditioning agents or additives directly into the hopper for seamless blending into the pumped media.
A generously sized stuffing area between the hopper and rotor/stator allows optimal overloading of the feed screws, ensuring near complete filling of the conveying chambers. This design “effectively eliminates the risk of partial dry running”, significantly reducing wear on the rotor and stator and lowering maintenance costs.
Maintenance efficiency is a core advantage of the AE RG Series. A maintenance in place design enables servicing without removing the pump, while patented dry run protection provides automated safety controls.
Additional features include external flushing ports for simplified cleaning, a maintenance free sealing system and a robust gearbox bearing for maximum uptime.
