Variable area flowmeter approved for North American hazardous areas

Krohne, manufacturer and distributor of level and flow measurement products for the process industries, has announced the latest in a number of approvals for one of its key products.

Since its introduction in 2011, the H250 M40 has achieved more than 30 approvals worldwide for hazardous gas and dust areas, and is now approved for use in North American hazardous areas

The flowmeter combines multiple explosion protection types and can be used in any suitable application that requires intrinsically safe (IS) or non-incendive (NI) wiring strategies, as well as for dust-ignition or explosion proof installations.

In addition, the company says the H250 M40 is 'the first variable area flowmeter with stainless steel housing and an explosion proof (Ex-d/XP) enclosure, making it ideal for the oil and gas industry'.

These purely mechanical flow indicators can be upgraded with 1 or 2 limit switches (NAMUR, transistor, or reed), output and communications options, and graphical LCD.
