T-T Flow supplies gate valves for Scottish hydro power scheme
T-T Flow, a UK-based liquid handling equipment manufacturer, has supplied three DN150 metal seat gate valves to a hydroelectric development scheme in Scotland.
Nestled amongst the hills of Kinlochleven, a large new development is underway to build a 5MW project to make use of the water stored by the Loch Eilde Mor Dam, built in 1916.
The bespoke valves are BS5163 rated to PN40, meaning they can withstand 40 bar of pressure compared to the industry standard of just 16 Bar.
This is an important distinction for this particular application as the valves need to withstand higher water pressures.
Prior to the valves being installed, full design calculations were made, new patterns produced and extensive acceptance testing was undertaken.
