STATS mechanical pipe joint connectors receive type approval

STATS Group has received international certification for the design and manufacture of its mechanical connector range.

DNV GL, the world’s largest classification society, has granted type approval for the connectors, which provide a permanent and verified mechanical connection.

STATS, an Aberdeenshire-based piping technology company, has designed and manufactured more than 1,000 mechanical connectors since 2003, providing a leak-free service on piping systems ranging in size from 2” to 36”.

The connectors provide a mechanical pipe joint for the modification or repair of piping and pipelines in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries and eliminate the need for time consuming, costly, and potentially hazardous hot work.

Scott Garner, business development manager at STATS, said: “Connectors are available in a variety of configurations to allow pipe-to-pipe or pipe-to-flange connection or with a blind flange for capping redundant or decommissioned lines.

“Applications include tie-in or re-routing of pipework, sectional pipe replacement, and pipe end cap termination for topsides, terminals, and subsea pipework. This reliable and cost-effective mechanical connection method is ideal where welded or hot-work options may be undesirable or not economically viable.”

The STATS range of connectors conform to the ISO 21329 standard and are compliant with DNV-OS-F101:2012, Submarine Pipeline Repair, DNV-RP-F113:2007, Pipeline Subsea Repair.
