Metso launches intelligent valve controller option for Arctic temperatures

As oil and gas production moves to even more challenging geographic areas, the standard -40°C to +85°C environment tolerance is no longer sufficient. In particular, more stringent regulations originating from North America, Russia and China have made it necessary for valve controllers to be certified for even more extreme temperatures. To meet these evolving needs, Metso has launched an Arctic option that expands the Neles ND9000 intelligent valve controller family and enables the controller to withstand temperatures from -53°C to +85°C.

'One of the most appealing benefits of the Metso intelligent valve controller is that it offers remotely advanced control valve diagnostics for process optimisation and maintenance planning. This means that users no longer need to go out into extreme conditions next to the valves to carry out control valve diagnostics tasks. Instead, all access to user friendly diagnostics reports can occur from inside the comfort of an office. Online diagnostics collected by Metso's Neles ND9000 intelligent valve controller let you know your control valve condition, so you don't need to guess,' explains Sami Nousiainen, director, Neles Smart Products, Metso.

The Arctic temperature option is available in aluminium and stainless steel flameproof enclosures. For both material options, an intrinsically safe option is also available if needed. The Arctic temperature option is available for HART, Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus PA devices.

Metso's Neles ND9000's intelligent valve controller family is designed to operate on all control valve actuators and in all industry areas.
