Maintenance work at Welsh reservoir ensures safe supply to 600,000 people

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water are about to begin maintenance work at Llandegfedd Reservoir, which plays an important role in supplying over 600,000 people.
It supplies Cardiff, Newport, parts of Monmouth and surrounding areas with a reliable supply of safe, clean drinking water every day.
The work, which began this month is anticipated to be completed by the end of October.
Rhys Hellin, Welsh Water sub-programme manager, said: “Our work at Llandegfedd Reservoir is essential to ensure we continue to provide customers in the area with a first-class drinking water supply. As a not-for-profit company we continue to invest in our assets to strengthen our resilience and continue to improve the service to our customers.
“We always want to make sure our customers know what we are doing when we are working in their community, so we have written to residents to tell them about the work and updated the In Your Area section of our website with the latest information.
“We appreciate that this kind of work can sometimes cause inconvenience for our customers, but we will do all we can to keep this to a minimum and would like to thank people for bearing with us whilst we undertake this essential work.”
