KSB introduces new heavy duty pump

GIW Industries, a subsidiary of the KSB Group, has introduced a new heavy duty pump - the MDX-850.

GIW, based in Grovetown in Georgia, US, has developed this pump series specifically for extreme conditions.
The new MDX-850 establishes a new level of in-production, while keeping the overall operating costs down.
The impeller diameter measures 2,600 mm (102"), exceeding that of the previously largest MDX pump by 250 mm (10").

The design features of MDX-850 incorporate several enhancements that have been made to the MDX type series over the last few years.
The pump width has been enlarged to allow for improved diverter design. The impeller has been reinforced in areas prone to wear.

Thicker impeller vanes, cast from Gasite™ 28G and Endurasite™, improve wear resistance and extend the life cycle of the pumps.
The MDX-850 is characterised by its enhanced interface between suction liner and suction plate, enabling the use of an innovation in the design of the wear ring at the pump inlet.

Like all MDX pumps, the size 850 comes with an adjustable suction liner making the design compatible with the GIW® RAMSL (Remotely Adjusted Mechanical Suction Liner).
This allows adjustments to the clearance between the impeller nose and suction liner from the suction side of the pump fast and precise, even when the pump is operating.
