Atlas Copco acquires US vacuum equipment supplier, German compressor distributor

Atlas Copco has recently announced two company acquisitions: US-based Dekker Vacuum Technologies, a supplier of vacuum equipment and service solutions for industrial applications; and German distributor of industrial compressors, Dr. Gustav Gail Drucklufttechnik.

Based in Michigan City, Indiana, Dekker has around 70 employees. In 2019, the company posted revenues of approximately $23 million (€20.8 million); it has supplied vacuum solutions for 22 years to a range of industrial customers in the US Midwest and across the country.

“This acquisition will complement our existing portfolio in the liquid ring pump market and will enable us to serve more vacuum applications at our customers,” said Geert Follens, business area president for Vacuum Technique. “The company has a strong reputation serving diverse industrial markets in North America.”

The purchase price of the transaction, which is expected to close on 28 February 2020, is not material relative to Atlas Copco’s market capitalisation and has not been disclosed. The acquired company will become part of Atlas Copco’s Industrial Vacuum division within the Vacuum Technique business area.

Dr. Gustav Gail Drucklufttechnik, which is based in the southern part of Cologne, German, has 10 employees.

“The company has a strong presence and potential for growth in the area in and around Cologne,” noted Vagner Rego, business area president for Compressor Technique. “The acquisition is in line with our strategy to increase our service offering and get closer to our customers.”

The purchase price of the acquisition was not disclosed; the German compressor distributor will become part of the service division within Atlas Copco Compressor Technique.
