Anglian Water to begin new sewer installation
Anglian Water engineers will begin crucial work to install new sewer pipes and a pumping station in Holbeach to support the growth of the new Peppermint Junction development.
Following the on-going installation of water mains which began back in April, this new work will provide over 1.5km of new sewer pipes to ensure reliable and long-lasting wastewater services to the new development. The worked on September 21 and is expected to be completed by March 2021.
David Hartley, Anglian Water spokesperson, said: "The Peppermint Junction development is significant within the area of Holbeach and this work is essential to ensure that our network is fit to meet the demands of a growing population.
“With work already well under way to aid the continuous supply of water to the area, now it is time for us to begin installing the new sewer pipes and pumping station. This work will ensure that local customers can turn on their taps and flush their toilets without a second thought.”
Despite the challenging and uncertain times, Anglian Water staff, who are classed as key workers, are continuing to provide one of life’s essential services - keeping taps flowing, toilets flushing and drains draining.
To ensure the safety of both staff and local road users, a road closure will be in place on Boston Lane North from 28 September – 23 October, with traffic management dates subject to change dependant on the progression of works.
However, the majority of the new pipework will be installed in adjacent fields where possible, helping to reduce the amount of disruption for local road users and residents throughout the scheme.
Anglian Water has assured teams will be following Public Health England advice on social distancing while at work and will be limiting direct contact with customers unless it’s an emergency.
