Singapore port authorities demand mass flowmeter approvals
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will stop approving barges without mass-flowmeters for bunker transfer by the end of the year, it has been reported.
Approved and sealed mass flowmeters for all bunker barges will eventually be required, but the deadline for that mandate may take up to two years.
It is thought that a fears of an increase in bunker fraud may be one of the reasons behind the proposal.
The MPA has not yet issued an official comment about the mandate.
