New water pipeline to cater for Australian city’s booming suburbs
The $4 million (€2.5 million) project servicing of Mundijong and Whitby in Western Australia will provide a secure and reliable supply of high-quality drinking water to current and future residents.
Mundijong is presently home to 4,068 residents, with this number tipped to swell to nearly 21,000 by 2036. In line with population forecasts, around 17,000 new water service connections could be required in the area by 2060.
The pipeline was laid over a six-month span and about 50 jobs were created as part of the project.
Through Water Corporation, the McGowan Government has allocated over $140 million (€88 million) to water supply and network projects in Perth and Peel in 2021-22.
