New Netzsch grinder for wastewater and bioenergy applications

The new N.Mac Twin Shaft Grinder is designed to fragment materials to protect pumps and the process. The company says that it is suited to areas like wastewater treatment and biogas and biomass plants.

The new N.Mac is available in channel and inline housing constructions and can be installed into effluent channels or upstream from a pump. The ‘cartridge cutting knives’ within the device are designed to be easy to remove, replace and service. Models feature one to six cartridges per shaft, the cartridges being pre-assembled and coming in different materials depending on the application.

A similar solution, called a ‘mechanical seal cartridge design’, combines mechanical seal and bearing cartridges to simplify replacement and servicing while remaining leak free, says the company.

These grinders can be stacked for progressive particle reduction. There is an optional control panel that is equipped with an auto-reverse feature to pull out jammed media.

The modular design of the grinder uses interchangeable components that allow ‘universal parts servicing’. Dual tempered hex shafts are designed for pre-indexed assembly. The device’s shock absorption system is designed for quiet and reliable prolonged operation.

The grinder comes with different cutting gear sizes for different shaft speeds to enable better grabbing and grinding. Netzsch says the grinder’s cycloidal gearbox is maintenance-free for up to two years.
