New high-power Bosch Rexroth drives open new possibilities for rotating machinery
Technology and machinery manufacturer Bosch Rexroth has released the new IndraDrive ML high power output drive as an extension of its IndraDrive series.
Suitable for a variety of industries, such as marine and offshore, automotive, aerospace, material handling, metal forming, and metal processing, the modular inverter can individually power from 110kW up to 500kW and up to eight devices can be connected in parallel for power up to 4MW
The drive is currently the only drive solution on the market to offer megawatt power from one source.
The modular inverter can be used as a mains power inverter or as a motor inverter, which minimises the variants, simplifies handling, and reduces storage costs, and it is particularly suitable for complex multi-axis applications.
Drive-based Motion Logic solutions regulate synchronised movements via their own intelligence, even without higher-level control units.
With a multi-Ethernet interface for all common communication protocols and one multi-encoder interface, the drives seamlessly integrate even into heterogeneous automation environments.
The drives feature a regulated power supply for optimised energy-saving concepts and management and a high-end cooling plate and transistor modules.
Rexroth has also developed additional variants of the IndraDrive ML with voltage ranges from 525V to 690V, which supplements the product line of supply voltages from 380 to 500V.
Regardless of the supply voltage, the IndraDrive ML is certified for industrial applications pursuant to CE, UL, and CSA, which reduces the engineering and documentation effort for global use.
All product lines are currently in the process of being approved by the ship classification authorities GL, DNV, ABS, and LR so they can be “type approved“ in typical marine and offshore applications.
Scalable control units and application-specific firmware options allow the IndraDrive ML to cover a wide range of standard applications up to and including high-end servo applications that require a high level of dynamic response and precision.
