Bronkhorst release flowmeter for low flows and hazardous conditions
Netherlands based Bronkhorst High-Tech has released a new version of its mini CORI-FLOW Ex d series Coriolis mass flowmeter for low flow rates. The new, compact flowmeters are suitable for use in hazardous areas.
Having achieved both ATEX and IECEx approval, the flowmeters are built into a flameproof enclosure with a separate compartment for the electronic components. Operating via the Coriolis principle, the flowmeters are suitable for both liquid and gas flow applications, and cover flow rates from 0.1 g/h to 30kg/h. They can be deployed in systems with pipeline pressures up to 138 bar.
Alongside the standard RS232 digital communication, it is also possible to equip the instrument with a fieldbus interface (Modbus, PROFIBUS DP, DeviceNet, FLOW-BUS), and 4-20 mA output on request. The instruments also include functions such as alarms, a totaliser to measure fluid consumption, and batch dosing.
According to Bronkhorst, the miniature Coriolis sensor’s response time and accuracy level are unaffected by changes in operating conditions, such as pressure, temperature, density, conductivity and viscosity. The flowmeters also include integrated PID control for close-coupled control valves or pumps, constituting a compact control loop. Fluid temperature and density are included as secondary digital outputs.
The mini CORI-FLOW Ex d flowmeters can be applied in process control systems in petrochemical plants, and oil and gas installations, for instance for the odorisation of natural gas, scale/corrosion inhibitor dosage or general additive dosing.
