Bredel launches new total cost of ownership calculator

Hose pump manufacturer Bredel has developed a new total cost of ownership (TCO) calculator in a bid to support new customers and existing users in the hose pump specification process.

According to a statement from the brand of the Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group, the new TCO calculator aims to ensure ‘right pump, right application’. In addition, it looks to offer ‘business-critical insight’ into the long-term cost benefits of Bredel technology when compared to air operated double diaphragm and progressive cavity (AODD and PC) pump types.

The TCO calculator has been designed for use on a mobile device. To operate it, the user needs to enter necessary pump parameters, including flowrate and pressure. Once that information has been entered a direct comparison will be given to show which model and size of Bredel pump will deliver optimal pumping and cost savings.

“Handling abrasive fluids is challenging for most pumps because particles in the fluid can quickly wear the pump components – and the wrong choice of pump can result in downtime, lost production revenue and high maintenance costs,” said Rolf Sterken, managing director at Bredel.

“Our new tool removes this issue: it adds a layer of ‘instant support’ in the specification process; and, crucially, it calculates the considerable operational and financial benefits that can be achieved through use of Bredel pumps and precision machined hoses.”
