Anglian Water invests in new water main to support growth
Anglian Water’s team of expert engineers will begin work to install over 5.3km of new water mains in Northamptonshire, UK, to support local growth in the area.
The work in Overstone, which is expected to be completed by the end of October, will ensure resilience of the local water network and maintain water pressure for thousands of customers in the area.
Dan Finbow, project manager for Anglian Water, said: “Our region is one of the driest and fastest growing in the UK, and by 2025 we expect to serve 3.3 million households, with over 380,000 new homes needing to be connected to our network.
“By investing in long-term infrastructure just like this, we can enhance capacity and ensure that our customers can continue to use their taps and flush their toilets without a second thought.”
The majority of the pipe will be installed within neighbouring fields to reduce disruption for local residents.
This work is another example of Anglian’s £6.5 billion (€7.5 billion) investment between 2020 and 2025 to secure supplies and improve services across the region – its biggest investment to date.
This is supported by the recent installation of a new pumping station at its local water treatment site in Pitsford, Northamptonshire, as part of an £8 million (€9.2 million) investment.
