Changes to the German storage sector

According to Janhein van der Eijnden, Managing Director of Vopak Germany, there are three main factors influencing the bulk liquid storage sector in the country.

Firstly, the closure of local refineries in Germany has increased demand for imports of gas oil and diesel.

Secondly, the Energie-Wende (the shift in direction from nuclear and fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy) could change the demand for and thereby the flow of oil products in the country.

And thirdly, the introduction of new bunker specifications from 2015, when the ECA restrictions come into force.

Van der Eijnden is just one of the speakers presenting on this topic at next month's inaugural Tank Storage Germany on 19-20 November in Hamburg.

He will appear along other key speakers including Sven Thiessen, Managing Director of Oiltanking Germany and Helmut Goelz, Managing Director of Simon Storage Germany.

As well as updating delegates on changes and growth within the local storage market the two day conference and exhibition will also cover other topics including securing finance for expansion, construction risks, demand for capacity coming from the biodiesel sector and an update on the latest safety and environmental regulations.
