KSB releases new ‘gigantic’ pumps for wastewater transport

The German company says that it is responding to ‘the worldwide increase in extra-large waste water projects’ by adding fifteen more sizes to its Sewatec pump range. The largest version will have a flow rate of up to 33,000 cubic metres per hour, with a drive rating of over one megawatt.

The company cites projects in Mexico and the City of London as examples of the increasing demand for large wastewater pumps.

Sewatec pumps comprise of a single-stage volute casing in a back pull-out design, and can be installed horizontally or vertically. They can also be fitted with a variety of impeller types to fit the fluid being handled. This includes multi-channel impellers, free-flow impellers and single-vane impellers.

The pump casings come with a replaceable casing wear ring and are designed with or without an inspection hole depending on their size. Customers can choose between radial and tangential discharge nozzles. Permanently sealed, grease-packed rolling element bearings absorb the bearing forces.

Available shaft seals include various bi-directional mechanical seals and different gland packings.
