The India based Rotex Manufacturers and Engineers is selling Metso the division for an undisclosed amount. Metso says that the move is aimed at expanding its global valves business. The companies expect to close the deal by July 2018.
Rotex provides valves, actuators and automation systems to Indian markets.
The division employs approximately 275 people with sales in the last fiscal year (ending March 31, 2018) reaching about €19 million.
As well as complementing its current actuation and valve automation offering, Metso said that the acquisition will introduce new products into its process-valve portfolio that serving a number of industries, including the oil and gas and water treatment industries.
"This acquisition represents an important strategic step for Metso's valves business. It expands our offering for the current customer segments, especially outside North America, and increases our presence in attractive new industries and application areas," said John Quinlivan, president of the Valves business area at Metso.
