Wastewater solutions start-ups make the 2016 Global Cleantech 100 Ones to Watch List
Aquarius Spectrum, a provider of cloud technology solutions for monitoring municipal water distribution networks and leak detection, has been named in the 2016 Global Cleantech 100 Ones to Watch list.
The GCT100 Ones to Watch list, produced by Cleantech Group (CTG), seeks to highlight a group of up and companies that are catching the eye of leading investors and corporates in the market.
The listed companies made the top 250 in this year’s Global Cleantech 100 programme and carry pockets of strong support among the GCT100’s expert panel, but did not have quite enough market support to make the 8th edition of the Global Cleantech 100 list itself.
“The Global Cleantech 100 programme is our annual in-depth research exercise to identify the innovation companies leading players in the market are most excited by right now”, said Richard Youngman, CEO at CTG.
“By the nature of the list, the Ones to Watch truly represent the next cadre of exciting disruptive companies.”
Aquarius Spectrum’s solutions enable monitoring and control of the water infrastructure for water utilities while reducing their water loss, which in some places in the world reaches 30-50% of the intended water for consumption, said Oded Fruchtman, CEO at Aquarius Spectrum.
The company specialises in cloud technology solutions for monitoring municipal water distribution networks and detection of underground leaks from the earliest stages of their development using both fix and mobile acoustic sensors.
AQS-SYS is a fixed leak detection system that executes daily monitoring of the municipal water network and iQuarius is a mobile leak detection device that is based on an innovative vibration sensor coupled with a sophisticated software connected to smartphones.
Other companies nominated for the Ones to Watch list include Biogill, who manufactures bio-based technologies to clean wastewater, water purification membranes manufacturer Nanostone Water, and WaterSmart, a provider of customer engagement solutions to help water utilities lower costs.
This year, a record number of nominations for the annual Global Cleantech 100 list were received – 9,900 distinct companies from 77 countries.
These companies were weighted and scored to create a shortlist of 325 companies, with these nominees reviewed by Cleantech Group’s Expert Panel.
The Ones to Watch list, a sister list to the annual Global Cleantech 100 list, is created from the top 250 of the shortlist.
To qualify for either list, companies must be independent, for-profit, cleantech companies that are not listed on any major stock exchange.
