BPMA and ESA sign mutual cooperation agreement to improve pump and sealing industries

The British Pump Manufacturers’ Association (BPMA) and the European Sealing Association (ESA) have signed a mutual cooperation agreement to improve inter-association communication and sharing of information.

In a statement, the organisations say that “a great deal of mutual benefit” can be derived from such an undertaking. 

They recognise the core values of each organisation and the fact that that they already follow similar technical, standardisation, training, energy, and environmental protocols across their respective product areas.

The agreement will allow the exchange information between the two associations in areas of common interest affecting pumps, pump sets, and sealing products.

The companies list technical issues, standards (UK, European, and international), legislation information, energy and environmental issues across Europe, and training programmes among possible cooperation areas.

Having been approved by the council of each organisation, the agreement was formally signed by BPMA president Peter Reynold of Grundfos Pumps UK and ESA chairman John Morton of John Crane.

Commenting on the signing, BPMA director and CEO Steve Schofield said: “This is an exciting development for both organisations, and one which I’m sure will quickly deliver important benefits for our respective memberships.”

Established in 1941, the BPMA is a not-for-profit trade association representing the interests of UK and Irish manufacturers and suppliers of liquid pumps and other pump related equipment.

The European Sealing Association, founded in 1992, on its part represents the manufacturers and suppliers of sealing devices and materials across Europe.
