W&O Europe is named exclusive distributor for Hyde Marine product line in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg
W&O Europe, a global supplier to the marine and marine offshore markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation, and engineered solutions, is now the exclusive distributor for the Hyde Marine Hyde Guardian Gold Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The distribution agreement grants W&O Europe the exclusive rights to promote the Hyde Guardian Gold product line in the region, along with providing commissioning services related to the systems.
The BWTS is the latest solution from Hyde to meet industry BWT regulations. This system has the smallest footprint on the market and allows for easy installation with its simple design and the ability to be skid mounted. Standard systems are available for flow rates from 60 m³/hr up to 6,000 m³/hr.
The chemical-free system uses efficient filtration and ultraviolet disinfection to treat ships' ballast water, preventing the spread of invasive species from port to port. It was among the first systems to receive International Maritime Organization (IMO) Type Approval in April 2009 and also has Type Approvals from several Class Societies. In April 2013, the BWTS earned the Alternate Management System (AMS) approval from the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
Hyde Guardian Gold technology relies on a two-step treatment method. The first is a physical solid-liquid separation through surface filtration using automatic backwashing filters. A second step completes a physical disinfection through an ultraviolet (UV) technology. The filtration process removes sediment and large organisms from the ballast water before it is treated with UV light to inactivate or kill remaining organisms.
Utilising W&O's experience in North America, Todd Nestel, director of engineered solutions, and Fred Loomis, director of technical products, will support the W&O Europe sales team and customer base in relation to the Hyde products. W&O also has a Hyde certified service technician on staff for global commissioning and service work.
