Pumps enable safe and accurate handling

The company turned to NETZSCH, who recommended PERIPRO® peristaltic pumps specifically for this challenging application.
The compact hose pumps integrate easily into the filling machine and deliver accurate, reliable flow even with difficult products.
For more than 40 years, Maquienvas has specialised in machinery and equipment for the packaging industry, offering capping machines, labelling systems, complete packaging lines and filling machines for challenging fluids. To achieve maximum precision, the company initially relied on electromagnetic and mass flowmeters.
Addressing corrosive and organic fluids
Electromagnetic and mass flowmeters were ill-suited for fertiliser dosing, as corrosive ingredients such as potassium hydroxide and phosphoric acid caused rapid equipment degradation.
Pressurised storage tanks increased leakage risk and maintenance requirements, with certain components requiring frequent replacement and driving up overall costs.
Varying fluid properties, including organic particles up to 1mm, made consistent flow rates difficult to maintain.
Borja Tarin, area sales manager at NETZSCH, explained: “For this application, we recommended PERIPRO® peristaltic pumps because they are reliable, compact and easy to install and maintain.
“They also allow precise control of flow rates regardless of the corrosive or organic nature of the fluids.”
In 2023, Maquienvas installed the first two PERIPRO® C10/2.7 hose pumps in their fertiliser dosing system.
Continuous flow and reduced maintenance
PERIPRO® pumps operate on the principle of peristalsis, using a flexible hose compressed by large, robust rollers to move fluids.
This design generates a continuous flow, allowing precise dosing even when fertilisers contain solid particles.
Fluids are pumped at 37 revolutions per minute and 0.5 bar, achieving a flow rate of 1,941 l/h at 50 Hz, well within the PERIPRO® C10/2.7 model’s capacity of up to 3,700 l/h and 10 bar.
The pump’s design ensures the fluid only contacts the EPDM hose, minimising corrosion and contamination.
Since its installation in December 2023, the hose has required no replacement. The simple construction eliminates mechanical seals, valves or other wear-prone parts, reducing maintenance and extending longevity.
An encoder installed between the reducer and motor allows Maquienvas to precisely control flow rates in the batch dosing system.
Each revolution is divided into pulses, ensuring the exact volume is dispensed into every jerry can or bottle, set via the control panel.
Proven technology and growing partnership
The successful collaboration between Maquienvas and NETZSCH demonstrates the value of reliable, precise technology for fertiliser dosing.
PERIPRO® peristaltic pumps have provided a robust, efficient solution and NETZSCH has delivered expert technical support and follow-up service.
The success of the project has prompted Maquienvas to invest in identical PERIPRO® pumps for three additional systems, with the most recent order placed last year.
