Nikkiso unveils next-generation ammonia handling pump for petrochemical markets

news item image
Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group has launched a next-generation submerged ammonia pump, responding to growing demand for safer, more efficient fluid handling in energy, petrochemical and industrial gas sectors.
The new pump is designed to be industry-leading in safety, reliability and maintenance performance, addressing long-standing operational issues in ammonia handling applications. With a seal-less, maintenance-friendly and copper-free construction, the pump significantly reduces the need for routine interventions, lowering lifecycle costs and improving uptime.
It delivers flow rates exceeding 2,500 m³ per hour, backed by a mean time between outages (MTBO) of more than 16,000 hours, which the manufacturer says sets a new benchmark for long-term reliability in harsh service conditions.
Ammonia is increasingly recognised as both a vital agricultural feedstock and a potential clean energy carrier, with applications spanning power generation, chemical plants, shipping and export facilities. Nikkiso CE&IG’s President of the Pumps Division highlighted that the launch aligns with customer expectations for high-performance pumping solutions that minimise operational risk and maintenance disruption.
The new design reinforces Nikkiso’s reputation for innovation in industrial fluid handling and supports broader industry moves towards more efficient, dependable equipment capable of handling aggressive or hazardous fluids in complex process environments
