Floking to begin manufacturing PVC pipe in India this year
Floking Pipes will begin manufacturing oriented PVC pipe, to compete with ductile iron pipe, in Chennai, India, in August 2014.
It took the company two years to obtain the required licensing to start the plant, according to a spokesperson. The plant will use technology from Spanish molecular oriented PVC pipe maker Molecor Tecnologica.
The Indian company has plans to install four lines, each with the capacity to manufacture 3,000 metric tonnes (MT) of oriented PVC pipe annually, by 2015.
Perhaps even more ambitiously, Floking Pipes also plans to set up three more plants, in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi, with a total installation of 30 lines across all four plants in the next four to five years. This could lead to a total annual production of 90,000MT.
