Enhanced pump package accelerates sustainably produced-water handling in oil & gas

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) has launched a high-durability hose-pump system engineered specifically for demanding fluid-handling applications in the oil and gas, petrochemical and industrial-water sectors.

The new package combines a reinforced hose design, advanced rotor geometry and a modular, quick-swap drive unit to significantly reduce downtime and maintenance costs.

The system has been developed to meet the rigours of produced-water transfer, high-salinity brine injection and chemical dosing in harsh environments — offering operators improved resilience, consistent flow rates under variable suction conditions and minimal shear damage to multiphase slurries or corrosive fluids.

According to WMFTS, the solution enables up to 30% fewer maintenance interventions compared to legacy hose-pump systems, thanks to the reinforced hose schedule and proactive diagnostics built into the modular drive.

“The fluid-handling demands in oil and gas and industrial-water operations are becoming ever more stringent — extreme conditions, mixed phases, abrasive slurries and the drive for lower lifecycle cost,” commented the company’s UK Technical Director.
“Our new hose-pump package is purpose-built to meet those challenges, enabling operators to reduce total cost of ownership while improving operational uptime and fluid integrity.”
