Egdon Resources, an oil and gas producer onshore UK, resumed production operations following the successful installation of Wanner’s hydraulic jet pump artificial lift solution at its Wressle-1 oil well.
Wressle-1, an S-shaped well, with a 45 o inclination, was drilled to a TD of 2249m MD and completed for production with a 4-1/2" liner and 2-7/8" tubing.
Wressle-1 was placed on production in 2021 and had been producing for two and a half years with no issues until, water break-through occurred, significantly impacting on oil production.
Having considered several artificial lift technology options, Egdon selected the Wanner solution. The lifting system consists of a free-style downhole jet pump, together with a Hydra-Cell Pro seal-less and packing-free surface power fluid pump.
With no moving parts downhole, the jet pump is compact, rig-free and uses pressurised fluid. The jet pump itself requires minimal maintenance. It can be easily retrieved hydraulically and circulated to the surface by reversing the flow of the power fluid, negating the need to pull tubing.
Taha Metwally, Wanner’s artificial lift business development manager, said: “It is more important than ever that we improve energy security efficiently and effectively and the Wressle well is doing exactly that with our artificial lift solution.
“This solution has completely mitigated the mechanical problems and production limitations frequently associated with a rod pumping system in an S-shaped well.
“Our rig-less, surface pump and jet pump solution can optimise oil and gas production that would otherwise be compromised; lowering the total cost of lifting a barrel of fluid.”
