Cadent deal with A-Plant includes £1.5 million equipment investment

UK gas network Cadent has announced a major new deal with plant equipment supplier A-Plant, which includes £1.5 million (€1.7 million) investment in new equipment.

From October, A-Plant will provide plant and equipment hire, including mechanised plant, welfare accommodation, fencing and barriers, access equipment and generators to the UK’s largest gas distribution network.

The equipment will predominantly be used by Cadent’s repair teams, however will be accessible to all operational teams.

As part of the deal, A-Plant has invested £1.5 million (€1.7 million) in new machinery, which has included commissioning an entire production line at manufacturer JCB, speeding up delivery times of new mini excavators and trailers to Cadent teams.

“I’d like to thank all of our colleagues involved in the procurement process which has led to this point,” said Howard Forster, COO at Cadent. “Our new relationship with A-Plant will help us to raise the bar in terms of our operational management, safety and utilisation as we start to realise some early time and cost efficiencies which is a great result.”
