BDI-BioEnergy International (BDI) has announced that it has acquired the chemical plastics recycling technology from the Next Generation Elements (NGE) and now holds the majority of shares for the first plant in Kühnsdorf.
This strategic acquisition marks an important milestone in the long-standing partnership between BDI and NGE, which has existed since 2020 and works on developing innovative technologies for the chemical recycling of plastics. The technology is marketed under the brand name SynCycle.
The core component of the technology acquired from NGE is the pyrolysis reactor, which converts polyolefins into pyrolysis oil.
This pioneering reactor process technology, which is operated jointly with KRUWE, will be integrated into BDI's responsibility and scope of supply and further optimised at the Kühnsdorf site.
The cooperation in plastics processing with the Next Generation Group, with its group members NGR and Hydrodyn, will continue. This acquisition underscores the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable and progressive process technology solutions.
"Our goal is to leverage our experience and BDI's outstanding processing technologies to roll out SynCycle technology worldwide. We are convinced that this technology will contribute significantly to the sustainable and environmentally friendly recycling of plastics," said Manfred Baumgartner, managing director at BDI-BioEnergy.
Kurt Ternegg, managing director at BDI-BioEnergy, added: “This strategic acquisition opens up enormous growth prospects for our company with its own core process technology on the promising global market for the chemical recycling of plastics.”
