In continuous operation since 1857, Zinkgruvan is one of the oldest underground facilities in Sweden.
It is located close to the town of Askersund, 250 kilometres southwest of Stockholm, and was acquired by the Canadian Lundin Mining Corporation in 2004.

A halt on site would have a significant impact on its overall efficiency, resulting in significant costs for operators.
The role of the dewatering pumps working underground is therefore critical to ensure the correct development of the extraction and to meet productivity targets. Zinkgruvan Mining has chosen Atlas Copco’s WEDA D line of electrical submersible pumps to conduct some of the most demanding dewatering operations.
