Anglian Water begins pipe reinforcement work
Anglian Water’s team of engineers have begun crucial work to install 1.2km of new pipe in Scunthorpe, as part of a £600,000 (€658,000) investment.
The work will see new water pipes installed to help strengthen and improve the resilience of the network amidst growth in the area, helping to keeping taps flowing for years to come.
Dodie Honisett, project manager for Anglian Water, said: “Through the reinforcement of our pipes, we will be able to pump a higher volume of water into the network, ensuring that our customer’s water supply and pressure is resilient well into the future.
“We’re also really pleased to have been able to reduce the scheme from 20 weeks down to 14 by having two site teams working on Scotter Road/Bristol Road and Brumby Wood Lane at the same time, which will hopefully help reduce the length of the disruption for local residents and road users.”
Despite the challenging and uncertain times, Anglian Water staff, who are classed as key workers, are continuing to provide one of life’s essential services - keeping taps flowing, toilets flushing and drains draining.
To ensure the safety of both staff and local road users, a road closure will be in place on Brumby Wood Lane until 6 November in order to install the new pipe.
Anglian Water has assured teams will be following Public Health England advice on social distancing while at work and will be limiting direct contact with customers unless it’s an emergency.
The company will be working on the project for 14 weeks.
