1MW electrolyser to drive industrial regeneration in Hydrogen Valley

The project was among the winners of the call issued by the Autonomous Province of Trento for the construction of a green hydrogen production plant in disused industrial areas, as part of Mission 2 Green Revolution and Ecological Transition of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
Promoted by Polytec Energy Srl and its parent company Polytec Spa, IMI’s electrolyser will be used to trial green hydrogen production techniques, with the unit powered by a dedicated renewable supply of photovoltaic systems at a total installed capacity of 4.4MWp.
The hydrogen produced will be used at industrial sites across the Storo region, specifically the Ex-Paisoli area, where end users will use it for painting and drying processes, as well as in metalworking furnaces.
Alessandro Lauria, sales director at IMI, said: "This project represents a concrete step towards the decarbonisation of industry and the regeneration of brownfield sites, especially the Ex-Paisoli in Storo.
"The installation of our PEM electrolyser, powered exclusively by photovoltaic energy, is a great example of how technology can be environmentally friendly, while also enabling us to regenerate industrial areas.”
Mattia Rosa, project manager at Polytec Energy, added: "The project is running smoothly and on schedule.”
