€1.4 billion gas pipeline to be built in Bulgaria

Bulgarian gas network Bulgartransgaz announced that a €1.4 billion pipeline is set to be built in Bulgaria, Reuters reports.

Three consortiums have submitted bids in the tender to build the gas pipeline.

According to the report, the plans are to have the 484km pipeline run from Bulgaria’s border with Turkey to Serbia.

The primary purpose of the structure will be to transport Russian gas from the second leg of the TurkStream pipeline to southeastern Europe.

Bulgartransgaz claims that it is set to be operational by the end of 2019.
