Selwood launches new greener pump

The pump uses a diesel engine to reduce emissions from the previous model and is designed to minimise noise.

The company says that the S160Eco solids handling pump uses an ‘environmentally-friendly’ engine to increase performance and operate almost silently. The pump was made in response to demand for an emissions reducing pump without sacrificing performance.

Selwood claims that it is the quietest pump on the market as tested against EU directive 2000/14/EC and is designed to meet EU Stage IIIB emissions regulations, enabling it to be used in the inner city, where the most stringent regulations apply.

As an upgrade from the current S150, the S160Eco uses an Isuzu diesel engine to achieve a 28.5% increase in pressure.

Selwood CEO Chris Garrett said: “Customers are increasingly seeking to reduce emissions, and ever more stringent regulations make it paramount that Selwood remains at the forefront of environmentally-friendly technology.”

The S160Eco is suitable for a range of sewage, sewer bypass, over-pumping, and water and wastewater applications. The pump is designed to handle large solids including raw sewage and fibrous solids.

According to Selwood, the pump is built into an ‘improved’ canopy with removable sections to make maintenance easier.
