Stabilis Energy opens Texas LNG depot

The 40,000 gallon (151,000 litre) facility in Odessa, Texas is meant to provide 24-hour access to LNG and ‘related services’.

“Stabilis is committed to providing our customers with the most convenient, reliable, and cost effective LNG fuel solutions. This fuel depot will serve our existing West Texas customers and make Stabilis LNG more readily available for new applications,” said Stabilis Energy vice president of sales Steve Stump in a statement.

Jim Reddinger, president and CFO of the company, added: “This fuel depot signals Stabilis’ commitment to providing reliable and cost effective LNG solutions to the West Texas market… In addition to installing the fuel depot, Stabilis continues to evaluate LNG production opportunities in West Texas.”

In late 2017 the company bought Prometheus Energy’s 20,000 gallon per day (75,000 litre per day) LNG production facility in Lisbon, Utah in return for their LNG distribution business outside of Texas and the Gulf Coast. The full details of the transaction were not disclosed.

CEO of Stabilis Energy Casey Crenshaw said in a press release at the time that the deal would allow Stabilis to focus on building and operating small- and mid-scale LNG production facilities, adding that the transaction was part of the company’s plan to ‘build the leading LNG supply network in North America’.
