KSB to present new maintenance aid at IFAT

The SewaSlide is an add-on for the company’s Sewabloc pumps to make access and maintenance easier.

KSB is going to present a new maintenance aid for waste water pumps called SewaSlide at this year’s IFAT conference. The device is an optional accessory for the company’s Sewabloc pump family. The product is designed to make work like impeller inspection and removing fibres and solids easier by enabling only one person to open the pump without cranes or lifting equipment. The mounting aid can be quickly bolted on or removed by a service engineer.

One SewaSlide can service a facility with multiple Sewabloc pumps, moving between them as needed.

According to KSB, the process is simple: “With the SewaSlide in place, the service engineer would simply undo the bolts fastening the volute casing to the bearing bracket of the pump. The back pull-out unit of the pump including the impeller, shaft, bearings, sealing elements and motor can then be pulled out of the volute casing. The volute casing remains in place, attached to its suction and discharge lines.

“Once the pump has been opened, the impeller is freely accessible, so that it is straightforward to remove the materials that have caused blockages or to perform other maintenance operations.”

IFAT is a major conference covering the water, sewage, waste and raw materials management sectors held in Munich, Germany. The event drew 3,087 exhibitors and 136,885 visitors in 2016. It's to be held 14-18 May at the Messe München exhibition centre.
