ARO launches new conductive PVDF diaphragm pumps

Fluid management product manufacturer ARO, an Ingersoll Rand brand, has introduced new conductive polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) pumps to its EXP range of process and automation ready diaphragm pumps.

Available in 1-inch or 2-inch diameters, the new pumps can be used for the transfer of highly corrosive fluids in hazardous duty environments, such as chemical processing, pharmaceutical, agrochemicals and general manufacturing.

“With this new product we wanted to raise the bar on reliability, automation capability, safety and sustainability of pumping solutions in this category,” said Julien Basset, global diaphragm pump product leader at ARO. “Customers no longer have to compromise the cost of ownership to ensure chemical compatibility and ATEX conformity. We designed the new pumps to reduce wasted time, energy and resources, and to minimise the exposure to chemicals while also lowering the chances for human error when operating or repairing pumps.”

Compared to machined conductive (polytetrafluoroethylene) PTFE solutions, the new pumps offer similar explosion protection, same tier chemical compatibility and best in class reliability and leak-resistant design.

The EXP diaphragm pumps can be enhanced with remote actuation and monitoring sensors without changing their hazardous duty conformity. They can also last up to two times longer than traditional diaphragms and do not require inversion during assembly.

The main features of the new pumps include:

  • Stainless steel hardware and inserts reinforcing the plastic structure of the pump, which reduces leak and reliability risks
  • Flow rate and leak monitoring combined with remote actuation features, which reduces the need for onsite human intervention and supervision
  • Lightweight construction due to lower density of PVDF material
  • Lower total cost of ownership
