Honeywell to supply China’s petrochemicals project

UK based company Honeywell, has announced its partnership with Zhejiang Petrochemical. The partnership will provide Zhejiang Petrochemical with Honeywell products for its second of an integrated refining and petrochemical complex in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province.

For the first phase of the project in 2017, Honeywell were selected for hydro processing and heavy oil upgrading, and to make aromatics for plastic resins, films and fibres that are the basis for millions of various products.  

For the second phase of the of China’s national economic development plan, Honeywell are set to provide process technology, engineering design, catalysts and control and automation technologies to Zhejiang Petrochemical.

Vice-president and general manager at Honeywell, Bryan Glover said, “This second phase of the complex by itself will process 20 million tonnes per year of crude oil and produce another six million tonnes per year of aromatics when completes.”

Glover continued, “It will be the largest crude-to-chemicals complex in the world, with more than 50% of the crude converting to petrochemicals. Due to its sheer scale, the complex will help China move closer to achieving self-sufficiency in paraxylene while serving as a major new source of peopylene, jet fuel and more.”
