TechnipFMC awarded offshore work on Chinese field

TechnipFMC has won a subsea contract from The China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) for the Liuhua 16-2, 20-2 and 21-2 Oilfield Joint Development Project in the South China Sea, at water depths ranging from 380 to 430 meters.

The contract covers the engineering, procurement and construction of subsea equipment, including 26 enhanced horizontal Christmas trees as well as wellheads, subsea control systems, manifolds, tie-in systems and intervention workover control systems. This contract also covers support services for the installation and commissioning, and the provision of a local services support base in China.

Hallvard Hasselknippe, president of TechnipFMC’s subsea business, said in a statement that the contract is one of the largest seen by the industry so far this year: “We will continue our long-term, collaborative relationship with CNOOC Limited and we are committed to execution excellence through the successful long-term development of the project in China.”

In 2015, prior to its merger with FMC Technologies, Technip won a front end engineering design contract in the Liuhua field for two tension leg platforms. That contract was also awarded by CNOOC. Technip worked with its consortium partner Chinese Offshore Oil Engineering Company to complete the project.
