TechnipFMC gets BP offshore contract (updated)

The agreement will see TechnipFMC work on BP production in Africa. Financial details were not disclosed.

TechnipFMC announced 16 April that it has been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract by BP for the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit for the Tortue/Ahmeyim field development. The LNG project is located offshore on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal.

The agreement includes scope for TechnipFMC to extend its involvement into engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) activities at a later stage.

TechnipFMC says that it will leverage its ‘extensive experience with Chinese fabrication’ for the project.

The early production of Tortue/Ahmeyim field development consists of four subsea wells tied into a production manifold, from theresubsea production pipelines are connected and led to the FPSO. Liquids are then removed and the export gas is transported via pipeline to the floating liquid natural gas hub terminal where the it is liquefied.

BP is by far the largest of the four partners involved in the Tortue/Ahmeyim project, having an approximately 60% controlling interest. The petroleum giant is also the site’s operator.
