Ebara drives international strategy through pump donation to Vietnamese university

Japanese pump manufacturer Ebara has donated pumps to a Vietnamese university as part of its international cooperation activities through technical guidance.

The Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) has a department to study the engineering aspects of turbomachinery, such as pumps and chillers, with about 150 enrolled students.

Students have had to date few opportunities to experience a real pump in the training at the university, and IUH has long sought to introduce pumps as educational tools.

On 17 December, when the pumps were donated, Ebara held a seminar on pumps and chillers at IUH with about 80 people, mainly university students, attending.

During the seminar the company held a lecture centred on basic knowledge of pumps, how to determine pump requirements, the mechanisms of chillers, and how to select them.

Ebara has sought to deepen mutual understanding around the world through international cooperation, including technical guidance, the company said in a statement.

Since the establishment of the Ebara Hatakeyama Memorial Fund (EHMF) in 1989, Ebara has held seminars more than 250 times around the world, and more than 12,000 people in total have attended them.

Going forward, Ebara will continue contributing to the development of Southeast Asian countries through international cooperation activities such as technical seminars, rather than by merely providing products and services including pumps.
