Ruhrpumpen delivers four mainline pumping units to Indian Oil Corp.

German pump technology manufacturer Ruhrpumpen has delivered four mainline pumping units to Indian Oil Corp. (IOCL) – one of the major oil pumping stations in India.

According to Ruhrpumpen, this supply was a part of an existing Salaya-Mathura Pipeline (SMPL) debottlenecking project.

IOCL operates the 1,870 km long Salaya-Mathura Pipeline from Salaya, based in the Jamnagar district on the coast of Gujarat, to bring crude oil to its refineries. Its refineries are based at Koyali, Gujarat, 8 mmtpa Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, and Panipat.

 Two Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems are operated at Vadinar to unload the crude oil received from tankers including Very Large Crude oil Carriers (VLCCs) with offshore pipelines.

IOCL is India's largest commercial enterprise and is ranked 161st among the world’s largest corporations in the Fortune ‘Global 500’ listing for 2016.

The company has been meeting India’s energy demands for over half a century, according to Ruhrpumpen.  It is focused on the entire hydrocarbon value-chain, from refining, pipeline transportation and marketing of petroleum products to exploration and production of crude oil and gas.

The four ZLM II 638/07 are designed for capacity up to 4,455 m3/hr and head of 184 m, have an efficiency of 89% and integrate a variable speed AC drive system with bypass isolators and a German made flame/weather proof electric motor with an output power of 1,750 kW.

The pumps were successfully commissioned in July 2016 and put into operation under the supervision of RP India’s service engineers, Ruhrpumpen said.  Since then, the pumping units have successfully been operating at the IOCL Vadinar pumping station.
