New size of Netzsch Tornado T2 lobe pump for chemical and hygienic applications

Netzsch Pumpen & Systeme, headquartered in Germany, has redesigned the Tornado T2 rotary lobe pump, developed by its subsidiary Netzsch Pumps North America.

The new pump, with a delivery rate up to 8m3/h and back pressure of 8-10 bar, has been specifically developed for lower volumetric flow in chemical and hygienic processes in the food and process industries.

The all-metal model was especially developed for the chemical sector, where the delivered media might attack rubber components.

The pump housing and rotary lobes are made from stainless steel or special steels to resist chemical attack.

This design enhances long-term process reliability, even with aggressive substances.

The pump chamber design eliminates dead space, preventing product deposits and making cleaning easier, either manually or following a CIP process, making the pump well-suited for hygienic processes.

The new pump features a belt drive, which – in comparison to a gear drive – is less prone to problems and allows for an even more compact design.

The belt drive also requires no lubrication as the pump manages completely without oil.

In addition, the pump chamber has also been further developed, with the rotary lobes now fixed cleanly from the outside with quick-fit taper lock ringsets, which makes replacement easier.

At the same time, no solids can be deposited on fastenings, as all rotary lobe surfaces are smooth, greatly reducing risks of clogging and blocking.
