Apollo Goessnitz to deliver process pump skids to Neste

Pump manufacturer Apollo Goessnitz, part of Russia’s HMS Group, has secured an order for five process pump skids for a new construction of a solvent de-asphalting (SDA) unit in Porvoo, Finland.

The unit will be erected for separation of residual products received by vacuum distillation of crude oil.

With the new process and pumps, Neste will be able to optimise the process of oil refining itself and to reduce process waste, Apollo says.

The scope of supply consists of different single-stage heavy duty process pumps for the oil and minor product processes up to 350°C as well as the main pump units of the system.

The main pumps consist of two large BB5-pump units of Apollo 350-sized TLB pumps with a power consumption of approximately 2MW per pump.

The units will be applied for pumping solvent at a temperature of 265°C, with a flow of 1,528m³/h against a differential head of 515m.

According to the API614 standard, these main pump skids will be equipped with Apollo ACS lube oil systems, which will be applied for lubrication of the pump sliding bearings.
