Watson-Marlow acquires MasoSine manufacturing and pump distributorship in Japan

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WM) has acquired the MasoSine sinusoidal pump manufacturing and distribution business from PRIMIX Corporation in Japan for £2.8 million (€3.9 million) through its parent company Spirax-Sarco Engineering.

The acquisition provides WM a foothold on the Japanese market for the first time and strengthens the level of service and support available to WM customers in the Japanese food, beverage, and industrial process markets.

WM’s new company, co-branded as Watson-Marlow PRIMIX for a 3-year transition period, will be headquartered in Tokyo and directed by PRIMIX CEO Hisashi Furuichi to ensure a smooth transition and to provide continuity during transitional phase.

Jay Whalen, president of WM, comments: ‘The acquisition of this business from Primix strengthens Watson-Marlow's position in the hygienic pump market where we are able to offer applications expertise and provide “added-value” to customers.’
