Bestobell extends valve range for greater flexibility

Bestobell Marine, part of the President Engineering Group, can now offer both butt weld and flanged connections for all its globe and check valves.

These valves range from small (DN15) to large (DN350), allowing Bestobell Marine to offer greater flexibility to its customers. Valves with flanged connections are particularly in demand with the Japanese and Korean shipbuilding companies, as they are easier to install and involve less welding.

Mick Robinson, engineering manager at Bestobell Marine, says: 'This has been an important project for the engineering team to complete to meet customer requirements. It has involved close co-operation between our two foundries to ensure that the flanged bodies were production-friendly and that any quality issues were addressed prior to the casting process.'

To make the product development process quicker and more efficient, Bestobell Marine utilised a 3D modelling programme, which it shared with its foundries, to gather feedback on designs and allow the technical team to make changes where they think improvements could be made.

Duncan Gaskin, sales director for Bestobell Marine, says: 'We are seeing increasing demand for our valves in the marine sector and expect to secure major new opportunities for expansion into the Japanese market for new build vessels. Now with the extended range, we are even more confident that we can meet market demand and build on our established reputation in the industry.'
