AVK acquires majority stake in South African valve group

With effect from Tuesday 8 July 2014, the AVK group has acquired a majority stake in the Premier Valve Group of companies based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

Premier Valves is one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of valves predominantly for the water industry in Southern Africa. The company is located in a 22,000m2 factory mainly producing valves for bulk water, transmission and control applications. The core product is large butterfly, wedge gate and auto control valves. In more recent years Premier has extended its product range to service the mining and general industrial markets.

Peter Thomson, who has lead the business for the past 10 years, continues to be the MD.

The Premier range of products will continue to be marketed by Premier Valves under its own brand and AVK branded products by AVK Valves South Africa. The two companies will work together to expand and strengthen the overall position of AVK in the South African market.

The combination of the AVK and Premier brands along with an extensive product programme will provide our customers with a comprehensive 'South African locally manufactured' product and service offer. AVK will be further investing in the Premier Alrode facility to establish production of the AVK product programme locally in South Africa and further develop the Premier valve capability to serve the needs of the local market.
