Veolia to construct drinking water treatment plant in Senegal

Global water and environmental service company Veolia has been awarded a contract for the design and construction of a drinking water production and treatment plant in Senegal.

The contact for the facility, to be located in the country’s capital Dakar, was signed between Veolia and the national water company Société Nationale des Eaux du Sénégal (SONES).

"We want Veolia to be our technical partner and adviser to help us meet the challenges of implementing strategic infrastructure projects and complying with technical quality standards," explained Charles Fall, CEO of SONES.

“We hope the company’s experience at both regional and international level will contribute to the success of this project, which is important for the quality of life of people resident in Dakar,” he added.

SONES, Senegal’s state-owned urban and suburban water utility, is the project owner, and the project has been financed by a loan from the West African Development Bank (WADB).
