Emirate council approves construction of $73m UAE water treatment plant

The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) in the United Arab Emirates has approved a $73.7 million (€70m) drainage network and water treatment plant in Kalba city.

The project was approved during the council’s meeting in early January, where Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, chairman of Sharjah Public Works Department, stressed the importance of the project in improving sanitation and environment in Kalba.

According to the Emirates’ official news agency WAM, Al Suwaidi said the project that will be implemented “concurrently with the city’s development, in line with the increase in population”.
